Eau de parfum 701 : An addictive herbal grass

If you like to surprise, try this fragrance! It begins with substantial, slightly fruity freshness and a hint of bitterness lent by the duo of grapefruit and bergamot. 701 bursts with spices and aromatics; pepper, rosemary, coriander, eucalyptus, cypress – boom! They turn up the temperature and combine marvelously with the white wood, amber and frankincense.

What does aromatic mean ?

This word calls gastronomy to mind, but it’s also a category of fragrances. It brings together fresh, invigorating, herbal and floral notes like aromatic herbs, lavender, cypress and eucalyptus. Aromatics are leaving the kitchen and entering our fragrances. You can find basil, mint, marjoram, thyme, rosemary, sage, tarragon, lemongrass, dill and so many others. Aromatic notes are often used to compose fougère scents.

Although this fragrance family is named after the French word for “fern”, it has nothing to do with the plant and is more of an olfactory impression. It calls to mind the underbrush. The fougère accord is based on lavender and woody notes, oakmoss, coumarin and bergamot, like in Jicky by Guerlain. This was the first fragrance owned by Ludovic Bonneton, founder of Bon Parfumeur.

How to recognize eucalyptus ?

Have you ever seen its little blue-green leaves in the south of France? They have a strong-smelling fresh, camphoric and woody aroma. Eucalyptus leaves and branches are steamdistilled to obtain the essential oil. As a top note, its bursting stimulating facets give a fragrance a feeling of expansion. It creates a direct impression of freshness and vitality. Due to its cleansing properties, it is subconsciously associated with the medicinal scent of a sauna or steam room.

What is cypress ?

You might think of Mediterranean landscapes with their rows of cypresses, but this tree also grows in the United States, Kenya, India and China. Its essence is citrusy, camphoric, woody and aromatic with accents of pine. It gives off bracing and invigorating facets. We love the sensation of fresh air that it creates.
