Curating - the latest news from Sally - The Long and the Short of it.
I'm not sure what happened last Sunday; I'd had so many lovely comments over the weekend about my Sunday newsletters and Paul, Monkey and I had been for a lovely walk from Saltburn to Marske
in the afternoon and then the evening just ran away with me and since then I haven't been able to catch up!
So, here I am a week later and very keen to get my message to you all.
I've just got back from York where I went to do a spot of shopping.
I always head to Sostrene Grene to see what Scandinavian goodies they have on offer and was amazed to find the store is full of Christmas!
It's interesting when you live in a smaller town you forget just what's going on outside in the bigger world. Here in Malton we're only just getting ready for the St Clements Festival on Saturday 23 November, so Christmas seems a little way off right now.
That said I've spent the last couple of days ordering stock from Maison Bengal - you'll remember their lovely large jute bags; Aura Que for those fabulous felted slippers; RE for the lovely recycled plastic baskets and Bath House for some of their new scented products.
So yes, I'm getting in the spirit too ...
For those of you who look at our Instagram posts you'll know that we're really loving this mix of long sleeve tees or polo necks with short sleeve knits on top (hence the title of this particular newsletter)
We have a great variety of each in store right now and the images below show some of the best. If you missed the post that went out midweek just take a look at Alison wearing the lovely Sofie Schnoor short sleeve beige 100% merino knit over a long sleeve black polo neck.
It's a great look and perfect for this current weather as it provides an extra cosy warm layer over a smart look.
I wanted to mention three particular events Bias is organising over the coming months; I'm hoping there's something for everyone and that I'll get the opportunity to see many of you over the next few weeks.
Here in the Malton Store we have a Fashion Event on
Wednesday 13th November from 4pm to 8pm
where we'll be showcasing our Winter Wardrobe including a range of lovely glamorous pieces for those possible nights out in
late November and December.
In Harrogate I've booked 17 Miles (my old store on Cold Bath Road) for a Pop Up Winter Event on
Wednesday 4th December from 2pm to 6pm
I hope this is an opportunity to see some of the Harrogate friends that I miss so much as well as a chance for you to see our Winter pieces.
And then of course, we have our late night Thursdays on the 5th, 12th and 19th December in the Malton Store when we'll be open until 8pm for private bookings or just late night shopping opportunities.
It's another busy week ahead; the internet went down on Saturday and despite lots of switching off and on and taking plugs in and out I can't get back online so that's certainly a problem for selling anything!
I have the plans to draw up for new lighting for the ground floor following on from a great meeting in store with Tom from Apeman Interiors in Nunnington (I made mention of him a week or so ago)
And of course there's the usual papers, orders and invoices to deal with so plenty to keep me busy.
I'll chat with you again soon, take care, Sally x
