Curating - the latest news from Sally - Not quite Bordeaux
This is the second week of my (partial) break from the store and I should be in Bordeaux right now.Various difficulties presented themselves in the last few weeks and in the end it seemed easier to delay the visit rather than be determined to make it happen. You know that feeling when two or three obstacles come into view and you begin to wonder whether the trip should actually go ahead? So, here I am having a little Yorkshire Treat instead and whilst I don't like to be petty it's raining fairly hard in Bordeaux for the next three days - or at least that's what my Apple forecast tells me - so maybe I made the right choice. That said, roll on Bordeaux Christmas Market.
One of the joys of the trip to Bordeaux was going to be leaving Malton Station on the 6.12am train and travelling via London St Pancras I would have been in the french city in time for an early evening glass of their famous red. Not bad eh and only four different train journeys!
For those of you who saw my Instagram post earlier in the week, the store is closed for the early part of this week, opening again at 9am on Friday 27th and open for longer hours over Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
However, I popped in this morning to open some boxes that had been delivered yesterday to find that the lovely GR Nature collection had arrived. I've hung out some of the styles and will share them with you tomorrow.
I'm trying not to hold my breath but the Summer Collection was just so gorgeous (and sold out so quickly) that I'm expecting it to be a bumper crop this season too - just as popular. Again the images provided by the brand are not so good so I'll try and find a more effective way of showing you how lovely the styles, shapes and fabrics are.
Paul and I had a busy but beautiful weekend in London celebrating my sisters birthday with family and friends - as well as her imminent retirement.
Particularly enjoyable was a close family lunch on Sunday afternoon in a great traditional french restaurant in Pimlico.
Paul went directly back to Bradford as the new term was beginning the following day and I travelled back to Malton on my own.
I'd woken early on Saturday morning to bake a french apple cake for the birthday party and returned home late on Sunday night full of smiles after a delightful thirty six hours with my lovely sister and family.
It seems very early in the new school year to be mentioning Christmas; however on Tuesday it'll be the start of October so here goes.
Some of you may remember the late night shopping experiences I used to do on Cold Bath Road in Harrogate. Well, I'm going to do something similar offering personal shopping sessions on the three Thursday evenings,
the 5th, 12th and 19th of December.
Guests can book to have the store for an hour to themselves in pairs, in groups of four or groups of six and we'll provide Aperitivo, music and a short presentation of gifting ideas for all styles and tastes.
The sessions will be free to book and will just require an email or text to me to let me know the best Thursday and time for you and your friends.
And you'll all leave with a small Bias Christmas Gift too.
I can't leave this week's message without mentioning the glorious time we had in The Lakes last week. Blue skies, bright sunshine and great views sum up the week we had. It was absolutely glorious and both accommodations, from three star hotel to the very small camping pod each offered their own
unique and wonderful experiences.
A few shots below and a Bias Gift Voucher for anyone who can name the three different expanses of water in the photos below - from left to right
(a little clue is that we started and ended the walk in Ambleside)
I'll chat with you again soon, take care, Sally x
