I've had a lovely day today enjoying the beauty of Yorkshire.
A good early morning stomp around Hovingham with a lovely coffee and pastry from the Scandinavian bakery there. And then the start of my Christmas shopping in Malton and York. Some books to order, vintage baubles to buy and a lovely collection of oranges and spices ready for our workshop later this week.
Over the last few weeks I've been working with Harrogate Skills 4 Living to prepare for and put in place some student placements in Bias.
The organisation has a vision to reduce inequalities and support people with learning difficulties and autism to overcome some of the barriers they face. We hope that by providing them with placements in store they will learn skills to enable them to apply for work in the wider sector.
On Wednesday we're heading to The Marriot Hotel in Leeds for the SmartWorks Awards Ceremony to find out if we've done enough to be nominated Best Independent Store of Yorkshire for sustainability and community involvement. Please keep your fingers (and toes) crossed for us on this occasion. We'd be so proud if we achieved it!
This week sees new top-up stock from Seventy + Mochi, Bibico and Arctic Fox arriving; I can't quite believe how much of these brands we're selling but with great sustainable stories behind each and every one of them, I'm absolutely delighted. I've also done a small winter order from Sofie Schnoor with a couple of wonderful knits and a lovely boucle jacket in the mix so look out for that arriving very soon. And, we'll also have a small, curated winter collection from Odd Molly arriving to tempt you for the bigger collection that's due to hang on our rails in 2024.
