Writing this at the end of a busy Saturday in Harrogate with lots of customers coming into the store and complimenting us on the collection we've brought together. There's always room for improvement, of course, but it's satisfying to know that that what the team have been working on over the last few months is really taking shape.
This week we took delivery of two more brands - one old, one new.
The new is an ethical and sustainable range of knitwear with good chunky pieces made in merino wool. We've gone for some lovely natural colours moss, charcoal, navy and mustard. The old brand is Tretorn, you may remember we sold their backpacks when we on Cold Bath Road. This season look out for their Rubberised Rain Jackets and Waterproof Rubber Boots.
In store we're currently selling a range of Moroccan products curated by Maryam to raise much needed funds for the Moroccan Earthquake Appeal. Many familes lost their homes including one of the artisans that Maryam and Bias work with so we need to support them and help them rebuild.
Today we also re-opened our lower ground floor with a lovely range of pieces perfect for Winter Gifting. Candles and Diffusers from a range of ethical companies including Potts Candles; a re-stock of the lovely Powder Kimonos in a range of patterns; our organic cotton pyjamas in a couple of new designs and lots of lovely toiletries including a range from Bath House who have branches in Ilkley and York.
During October, November and December we're running a range of Upcycling Workshops; from Autumn Wreaths to creating Textured Wall Hangings. They're being held on a series of Sunday afternoons and each session will cost £25 including the materials you need for your creation, tea and cakes as well as £10 credit to spend in Bias store. Look out for dates and details next week and dont' forget to sign up for one you like the look of.
HOT OFF THE PRESS - SmartWorks, the organisation that supports woman back into employment by offering interview techniques and a new outfit to wear at interview are hosting an Award Ceremony to celebrate ‘Fashion as a Force for Good’ and, in the last day or two, we’ve learned that we’ve been shortlisted for an award in the category for independent store promoting sustainable campaigns and community projects. As you can imagine we’re hugely excited and honoured to be one of four shortlisted entries in this category and we’d love you, our loyal and lovely customers to give us your backing. We’re not sure how the winner of each category is selected but as soon as we find out we’ll let you know how you can show your support.
I hope you've enjoyed reading about the latest Bias news and I'll chat with you again soon, Sally x
